Airbus to reach target of 75 aircraft a month

After cutting its annual delivery target to “around 770” aircraft in July, down from 800, necessitated by a drop in supplies from engine maker CFM, Airbus leadership is confident that it will be able to achieve its target of manufacturing 75 single-aisle aircraft a month in 2027, a feat that would be supported by investment, specifically related to supply chain and hiring tactics.

CEO Guillaume Faury referred to a short-term issue that has affected deliveries into this year but will not persist beyond. To ensure that it can meet the target of 75, the European planemaker has a plan to overcome supply issues, including going at the pace of the slowest of its suppliers.

Looking further out than 2027, there is no guarantee that production would ramp up. “The plan is to go to 75 and stay at 75 for some years,” Faury said. “This is a prudent level of production in terms of being sure that the demand will remain higher than the supply for quite a while.”
