Toyota Canada to invest over $300M in three new facilities

Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) will invest over $300 million to build three new facilities, including a new head office building and two new parts distribution centres that will support its customers and dealers countrywide.

“Today’s announcement represents a significant investment in our future in Canada—our business, our people, and our long-term success,” said Cyril Dimitris, President and CEO of Toyota Canada. “This investment is part of Toyota’s ongoing commitment to Canada, creating spaces and operations that improve how we support our dealers and customers, encourage collaboration, and enable continued growth across our business.”

The new head office will be located on the same parcel of land as the current head office at 1 Toyota Place in Toronto. The new 225,000 square-foot building will bring together sales, marketing, distribution, service, and training activities under one roof, including Toyota Credit Canada Inc. (TCCI), which is currently based in Markham, Ontario.

The two new parts distribution centres will be located in Surrey, British Columbia and Calgary, Alberta. The British Columbia Parts Distribution Centre (BCPDC) and Alberta Parts Distribution Centre (ABPDC) will replace the current Western Canada Parts Distribution Centre in Richmond, British Columbia.

The BCPDC is set to begin operations in December 2028 and will offer 210,000 square feet of operations built on an 8.1-acre parcel of land which offers convenient access to major transportation routes. The same start date is slated for the ABPDC, a slightly smaller space at 220,000 square feet built on a larger 13.5-acre parcel of land in Calgary which is proximate to the Calgary International Airport and major highway routes.

The new distribution centres will result in more than three times the space TCI has today and will better connect customers and Toyota and Lexus dealerships in the western provinces with parts and service and shorter delivery times. This investment is part of Toyota’s global 2050 Environmental Challenge, which seeks to achieve a net positive impact on the environment by 2050 by eliminating nearly all CO2 emissions from its new vehicles as well as its operations. The new buildings will be seeking Canada Green Building Council LEED® v4 Gold, Net Zero Carbon Building – Design, and Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification Gold, making them amongst the most environmentally sustainable and accessible buildings in the country.
