Volvo has announced that it will no longer seek to sell only fully electric cars by 2030, a goal it set in 2021. Instead, the manufacturer will strive for 90 to 100 percent of its global sales to be electric or plug-in hybrid by that date, which is more likely to be attained.
The change in direction is attributable to slower than expected development of charging infrastructure, slower consumer adoption, a turbulent economy, and the withdrawal of government incentives in some markets, but there is still a firm belief that electric is the future of the company.
